Villages

People often ask what a village is.  It is our belief that churches tend to be insular in nature.  That is fine for some, but for us it is important to be missional.  Missional is a fancy word for doing something to better our community, our world, and our relationships in a manner that we feel Jesus has called all of us to do.  A village can feed the poor, help a single mom, or even be a bowling league.  One does not need to be a member of the church to join a village, just be willing to make a difference.
Pantry Village:  Twice a month we go to a food pantry on the east side of Joliet and help give food to those in need.  We also aid in a food pantry right in the same facility we have services on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  If you're interested in the pantry village as either a volunteer or someone in need, enter the Pantry Village.

Greatest Gen Village: Twice a month we go to a local home for the elderly.  Many of these people sit alone with no one to spend time with them.  This is a chance to hang out, have some fun, listen to some fascinating stories told by living time machines.  If interested, enter the Greatest Generation Village.

Haitian Village:  LifeBridge wants to support New Life for Haiti in any way we can.  We do this by helping raise funds, awareness, and even go to Haiti if you wish.   If you're interested in changing the lives of some people who sleep on dirt floors and only eat once a day (if they are lucky), enter the Haitian Village.

Sunday Village:
Though we do not see a church as a Sunday morning gathering, we would very much like to have one.  To do that we will need worship musicians, greeters, people to care for/instruct the kids, give announcements, prepare programs, and so much more.   If you wanna help make Sundays happen, enter the Sunday Village.

Single Moms Village:
The Bible has a lot to say about widows.  We, the church, are to take care of them.  Today's widow in many ways is the single mom.  These women make do on one income, work long hours, care for their children and much more.  One of our founding principles is offering aid for the single mother regardless of church affiliation.  Our intention is to offer handyman aid, financial counseling, emotional counseling, and a night out to be a woman with other women.  If you are a single mom or you are someone with a heart for this ministry, please enter the Single Moms Village.

Dads Village:
In today's world, dad's take a more active role in their child's world.  More and more often in today's world, fathers are getting custody of their children.  Other father's are stay at home dad's.  Still other fathers are struggling and want to be better dads. Their challenges are similar to the single mom, but there are also some unique differences.  If you are a dad or want to help dad, enter the Single Dad's Village.

Youth Village:  High School and College aged people.  They are out future.  While they explore philosophy and politics and life, the church has largely offered them entertainment that is a mile wide and an inch deep.  Offered no challenges and no opportunities to express themselves, their faith, and their passions....is it any wonder why they are absent in church services?  We are trying to build that bridge in a real way and allow their voice to be heard here.  Their voice is our voice.  To hear that voice and be a part of it, enter the Youth Village.

Wanna Start a Village?
If you have an idea for a village and would like to make it come to life, we would love to work with you. If you're interested in starting a village, contact us.

Villages are where we not only do the work of the Gospel in a real and meaningful way, it is also where we build a real community and get to know each other.  We are not about secret handshakes here and the members only thing just does not work for us.  In other words, if the idea of a village attracts you, you do not have to be a member of the church to join a village.  You just have to be willing to make a difference.  Villages are not a path to Sunday services and one does not need to feel pressured to join a village when they attend Sunday service.  They are all part of a whole.  The church is all of us working together as a community to live the life Jesus called us to.
